How to Begin Your Journey of Health and Longevity

A 2017 report by the Kaiser Family Foundation stated that the leading cause of personal

bankruptcy is medical bills.

We must take responsibility for our health. We must make sure we are empowered, and

seek out education regarding our health. Remember, knowledge by itself does not give

us power. It only becomes powerful when it is applied.

As your Health and Wellness Coach, my job is to help you along that path!

Ten points to begin your journey of health and longevity

1. Start small, cut out all sodas. One can of soda wipes out 1⁄3 of your immune system for

the day. 3 cans wipe out your entire immune system for the entire day and leave you

susceptible to diseases.

2. Drink more water.

3. Read labels (minimize sugars, sodium, saturated and trans fat). If you cannot

pronounce the ingredients and if it has more than 5-6 ingredients, leave it alone.

4. Reduce your consumption of processed foods, such as fast foods, cakes, pies, and

cookies. Anything that comes in a can or box.

5. Eat more vegetables and fruits (limit fruits if you have diabetes)

6. Supplement your diet with vitamins and minerals. The soil that your food grows in is

depleted of nutrients. After the food is harvested, and when we add travel time, by the

time food reaches our table it has little to no nutritional value.

7. Add movement to your daily routine. As we age we begin to lose muscle mass,

flexibility, and balance. Strength training, walking, swimming, and yoga are excellent

low-impact exercises.

8. Exercise and diet work hand in hand. Remember you can't exercise your way out of a

bad diet.

9. Reduce stressors.

10. Self-care is essential. Taking time to relax, doing some deep breathing exercises, and

getting a massage are some ways to relieve stress. Listen to some relaxing music.

Practice meditation and be sure to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep. The body

heals itself when you sleep.
